Sabor Interno is an exhibition by Marcelo Sarmiento and Roland Santana that puts the unknown at the forefront. The artists present works created between 2019 and 2020, during the global pandemic. During the pandemic, the artists discovered the desire for creativity and expression did not end; it simply removed the direct connection with the viewer. Until now, the works have only existed through the lens of the internet and a screen. The pandemic was a time filled with grief, isolation, pain, and depression. Working within the isolated vacuum that is the studio during this time of global uncertainty, the artists worked through these obstacles by looking inward. Moving inward, the artists were confronted with an overwhelming force, the self, and the world that exists within.
